really liked it
bookshelves: 2018-new-releases, audiobook, read-2018

I don't know if it's just me, but I liked Wildcard so much more than Warcross. I felt like it had more depth to it this time around.

Here is a comparison of my thoughts on Warcross & Wildcard:

1. I mentioned my dislike of the writing style within Warcross and the complete overuse of the phrase "I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding". Warcross used variations of that sentence THREE TIMES. This time around however, I really enjoyed the writing within Wildcard and I don't think that sentence was used even once! Praise be.

2. I mentioned that Warcross was predictable, which for me it was. I saw the ending coming from a mile away. Wildcard however, pulled some tricks out of its hat that I was actually surprised by.

3. Unrelated to the story, I mentioned that these covers need a make-over. Unfortunately, that is still very true.

Overall, I'm really happy with this second installment in the Warcross series! I love Emika & Hideo so much and I have also grown to love some of the new characters introduced in this sequel! I can't wait to read more!
