really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, fiction, ya

I have read books with pacing problems, and I'm not sure if I should count this as one of them or not. It has two speeds, fast and warp. Something was constantly happening to the main character (Catherine), and while this might have normally bothered me it works for this book.

Because its in first person, and because Catherine is so out of her element, and caught up in what's going on around her the reader is just like her, along for the ride.

Normally I try to figure out what is going on with a story, where it is going etc. This one kept me from guessing, simply because I was so caught up with Catherine's own disorientation.

The story line itself is a bit girly, and just a tiny bit predictable, but different enough to keep it fascinating.

Read this book if you like girly (not romance) novels. Or like fast paced books.

Don't read this book if you dislike fast paced novels, or like novels that have standard rising action, climax, falling action arcs.
