"'Tis better to have loved and lost than never loved at all" (Alfred Lord Tennyson) best summarizes Nicholas Sparks' novels. As a librarian, I recommend and discuss his novels when the chance arises. The complaint I most often hear regarding his books is that 'it has a sad ending', but I choose to disagree. Sparks has a way of writing a story that reels you in from the beginning. I find myself falling in love with the characters as much as they are falling in love with each other. While many of his stories have tragic endings (and I've been very upset by some of them), the love realized by the characters in his novels far surpasses the finality of the tragic endings. The characters have truly loved.

Safe Haven is certainly another top novel by Sparks. You will experience love gone awry, resentment and forgiveness, friendship, love, redemption, and an ending that is sure to please. You'll just have to read it to find out.
