it was amazing
Read from November 09 to 17, 2011

If you grew up playing Atari, D&D, spent hours in arcades - any of those geekdom precursors - and you still enjoy their descendants today, you'll absolutely love this book.

It takes place in a future America in decline, a post-oil world, where most people seek refuge in a vast virtual reality universe. Except the creator and owner of said universe is dead, and the whole thing is up for grabs, provided you can solve a series of puzzles left by the deceased, all requiring an autistically obsessive knowledge of everything geek - circa 1970-80.

That challenge would be hard enough by itself, but also throw in competition from a ruthless corporation, bent on seizing controlling the VR universe for their own profit. One of the best books I've read this year.
