really liked it

This is one in a series I'm recently discovered but told from the point of view of the Detective Inspector instead of the psychologist. It was a unique turn to see the story from his perspective.

Because Dectective Inspector Ruiz has no memory of the events that place him in the hospital it feels as though we as discovering the story as he does.

I enjoyed listening to this book on CD because just as I thought the author had revealed all a new - yet believable - twist would appear. This is not always the case with mysteries. The ending was truly unimaginable from the beginning of the book and I enjoyed the journey.

My only criticism is the characterization of the dectective's mother does not seem to fit into the story. Her past is mentioned at random and hints at reasons for Ruiz's lack of relationship with his own children and lack of connection with people, yet there is no resolution. It may play in future books but the lack of understanding now was frustrating.
