All of Me
Feb 28, 2019
I received an early review copy of ALL OF ME and am so grateful to have read this story. Written in verse, each sentence struck a chord, showing the vulnerability, the kindness, the tangle of emotions of Ari, the thirteen-year-old main character, as he struggled with his parents' divorce, bullying, and his weight. Ari's story took hold of me; some scenes shook me with their honest and difficult truth. This boy with this yawning need inside him—for his father's attention, to be healthier (mentally and physically), to kiss his summertime crush. The emotions were raw on the page, and Baron's storytelling was so genuine.
