While this book wasn’t a page turner, I enjoyed getting to know Callie Vee and the rest of her family. It was an entertaining and informative look into a woman’s place in the home around the turn of the century through the eyes of a girl who had no interest in occupying that place. The writing was beautiful and every time I opened this book, I felt like I was stepping back in time. It was lacking a bit in plot for my tastes but the characters were extremely interesting and complex.
