This story begins with the death of Stanley Novak, a miner in a small town in Pennsylvania and father of five children. The rest of the novel follows the Novak family matriarch, Rose, and the children through their lives. I enjoyed this novel, there wasn't really a point to it, it was just a description of each family member's life and what happened to them and the people they loved. It reminded me a lot of the Falls in that sense. It wasn't a riveting story, but a good one if you're nosy like me!
