Turn It Up!: Love, Life, and Death, Southern Style
Nov 30, 2011
This is an awesome read from someone who was there and experienced it all. It's not just about music and songs and sex, drugs, and rock and roll... it's a heartfelt memoir, and describes what life was like on the road in the mid 70's and also includes how it affects the personal lives of those on the road. This is unlike any other book about Lynyrd Skynyrd that is out there. This is told from the viewpoint of the tour manager who was responsible for their safety, and in reading it you can tell why it took 34 years for him to decide to tell his story. He had a true friendship with Ronnie Van Zant and was obviously devastated by his passing. This is a must read for not just Lynyrd Skynyrd fans but anyone who enjoys a true story about people, work relationships intertwined with friendships and family relationships.
