Bryn’s parents were killed by werewolves when she was a little girl. The alpha, Callum, who rescued her chose to adopt her into his pack. Bryn has grown up a human among werewolves. Then she meets Chase, a human who just survived a werewolf attack. She is strongly drawn to him. Her connection with Chase and the rogue who turned him will change her loyalty and pit her against werewolf society. [return][return]This book was slow to start off, but about 150 pages in, it starts to hurtle along and I couldn’t put it down. The cover makes it sound like it’s going to be another teen paranormal romance, but that is not the case. JLB focuses on pack life and dominance in the werewolf society she has created. Bryn is in a unique position because she is human, not werewolf, yet she is apart of the pack. The pack interactions and relationships are well drawn and interesting. Then there is the suspense aspect of the story, we know there is a rogue out there attacking people, but it becomes so much more complex than that. This book turned out to be so much more solid than I expected. It’s not a cheap plot device just to get the boy and girl together, in fact, there is very little romance at all. Instead it is an intense, paranormal thriller with a very strong heroine.
