really liked it

Davis is explorer-in-residence for the National Geographic Society and has spent the past decade working on this 650 page history. The Mallory 1924 British expedition to Everest was made up of survivors of World War I who saw their mission as restoring faith in man’s courage to meet nature’s challenges (once the poles had been conquered). But did their exposure to the trauma of constant death in the trenches make them foolhardy on the mountainside?
