The book will be officially released on June 24, 2008. I got an advanced copy for free when I went to TLA (Texas Library Association).

This is the third installment in a series (after Queen of Babble and Queen of Babble in the Big City) featuring Lizzie Nichols. The book starts with Lizzie having spent the night with Luke’s (Lizzie’s ex-boyfriend) best friend Chaz. However, Luke suddenly reappears and asks Lizzie to marry him, she consents. Most of the book is devoted to this love triangle and Lizzie must choose what she really wants while running Chez Henri wedding gown restoration shop on her own, while the owner recovers from a heart attack.

OK, so you’re thinking, typical chick lit. Perhaps, but there is a reason why the genre is so popular. It’s fun. The heroines are always slightly neurotic, but you love them for it. Lizzie is hilarious… the things she babbles about both in her head and aloud to other characters are funny. It’s modern. Making fun of reality TV show starlets and models, check. The appropriate amount of fashion icon name dropping (Lizzie is a huge fan of Lilly Pulitzer and The Woodlands just happens to have a Lilly Pulitzer store in Market Street), check.

I haven’t read either of the first two novels in the series, but you don’t have to in order to enjoy it. Obviously, this book isn’t for everyone. It’s for people who appreciate chick lit (and there’s no need to be ashamed of that!).
