A well-written, well-researched book about an amazing rescue mission during WWII. In the summer of 1945, three survivors from a plane crash are stranded in New Guinea in an uncharted area among unknown natives with an untold number of Japanese soldiers between them and the nearest US military base. They can only be rescued by a combination of the bravery and ingenuity of paratroopers and pilots.

Another example of why they're called, "The Greatest Generation."
