Alexander traveled to Ghana in 2012 and that experience changed his life...and it’s so obvious in this book! Alexander still uses narrative poetry but it’s music that takes centerstage instead of basketball or soccer. An adoption thread runs through this one too as Blade discovers his identity and his past. That leads him to ditch America, his embarrassment of a father, and his broken heart to head off to Ghana to find his birthmother.

Loved the audio with Alexander reading. There’s just a cadence that he has that just comes so naturally.
