The Whistling Season By Ivan Doig. This book was profound. Every sentence had great meaning. The setting is rural Montana Circa 1910. A widower with three young boys responds to an ad for a house keeper in a Minn. newspaper (Can't Cook But Doesn't Bite) She comes to Montana with her brother Morrie. Rose was an Immaculate housekeeper and brother Morrie takes the job of a school teacher since the last one had left. He teaches in a very unorthidox way inspiring the children to learn. Rose wins the heart of her employer, marries him and they are a happy family.
