really liked it

In the vein of Capital by John Lancaster, A Week In December by Sebastian Faulks, and Number 11 by Jonathan Coe, The Lie of the Land is a mystery and domestic drama wrapped in a state-of-the-nation novel. More nuanced and less tub-thumping than the others, while more successfully navigating the London-centricity inevitable in state-of-the-nation works.
