it was amazing
bookshelves: 2018

Every now and again, I read a book that really resonates with me, and maybe even changes my worldview a little bit, and this was one of those books. Admittedly, that's probably because, like Lindy West, I'm a fat white woman in her thirties. If you also fit that demographic, you may find this book a satisfying and inspiring as I did. I've always loved West's writing, and this memoir did not disappoint, using her trademark wit and humor to describe awful situations and somehow come out of terrible, frustrating experiences with her hope for a better world intact. I highly recommend the audiobook, which West reads herself. It's a short, pithy book that made me feel a little bit braver and a little bit more hopeful. Maybe we can change the world, one voice at a time. Thank you, Lindy West.
