liked it

I wanted to enjoy this novel more than I did, but I found myself frustrated by some of the protagonist's actions/choices/thoughts. Ultimately, I couldn't forgive him enough to like him until perhaps the very, very end of the novel. Additionally, The Namesake didn't come alive for me in the way I expected it to. And maybe herein lies the problem--I had fairly high expectations for the book, and it fell somewhat short. I have to admit I'm a little disappointed.

Lauren Bummer, I totally loved that book. Interpreter of Maladies is also lovely. Have you watched the film? I thought it was a pretty faithful adaptation.

Tahira No, I haven't yet seen the film. But I will definitely put that on my to-do list for this winter break!
