This book was a personal account of the Cultural Revolution through the eyes of a Jr. High aged girl. The writing was interesting to me as an adult, but I also thought this book would be great for teenage readers. It provided an intro to the cultural revolution, but also touches on many common teenage experiences such as peer pressure and relationships with parents (in the context of the C.R., but would provide good points for discussion).

Susan This was my girl's FAVORITE book in middle school. The first book that ever made her cry.
