This story had a lot of potential from both the author and the story blurb. A retired porn star, who has a nine year old son and and is a double-mastectomy cancer survivor, is going to school to be a therapist when a stalker threatens to out her and ruin her scholarship. At the same time, Liz starts seeing Sean, casual boxer and psychology PhD posing as an ex-stripper so he can learn more about the adult industry from the inside.

I stopped reading at 50% for two reasons.

The writing was simplistic. It took me a while to figure out why, but it came down to sentence structure. Nearly every sentence sounded the same. "She did this." "He thought that."
It made the story feel surface level, and I had a hard time getting into it or caring about the characters.

The two main characters were also hiding something from one another, particularly on Sean's part. And intentionally and continually prolonging the same conflict under the guise of "I'll do it later, when the timing is better" is cheap storytelling.

I wanted to like this, but was ultimately kinda bored.
