I like this book, but I am unsure if I would read it to my class only because it is somewhat about voodoo. I'm not sure that really matters in this day and age, but nevertheless it has a good storyline. I believe this book could be used to talk about descriptive words, predicting, inferring, vocabulary, or story elements. The story also provides great insight to the bond between two good friends and the lengths they would both go to help each other; good moral lesson. This could lead to students brainstorm and filling out a classroom chart on how everyone could help each other get along better and overall have a good year.
