it was ok
bookshelves: historical-fiction

I would like to say that I really liked this book because it started off quite interesting but then it seemed that most of the rest of it took place in a dream state. It was hard to tell what was real and what was not real. Indian legends were told and ghosts haunted and murdered. I felt no real empathy for any of the characters yet I thought the story had a great deal of potential for making me like them. I was intrigued enough to finish the book but that is all. The author did a great job of helping me visualize the extremes of weather and the treacherous life that people lived. That is probably what I liked the best about the book
