it was ok
bookshelves: dnf

I had a hard time getting into this book and ultimately stopped at about 30%. I didn't connect with the heroine, Mali, at all—I actually felt a significant dislike for her, which is unusual for me. She just annoyed the bejesus out of me with all her stubborn (unnecessary) logic and internal arguments and justifications. And while I did like the hero, he wasn't enough to carry the entire story. His new boss came across as a little bit antagonistic, and the chemistry between Mali and Raul fell flat from the start. Taz, the dog, was the only thing that stood out for me in this read.

I really wanted to like this book. It has all the right elements for an exciting protector/service dog story, but the storytelling just felt surface level, so unfortunately, this one is a DNF.
