it was amazing

I really enjoyed this book. Giles, the Marquess of Bromton has been told a secret by his mother that makes him feel he is not the rightful hier to the title.

Giles has researched the family tree and has befriended his hier - as he plans to lose everything that is entailed to said hier in a card game. Giles cheats to ensure his hier wins....but, unfortunately for Giles, his hier was also cheating and therefore recognised that Giles' cheating caused him to win the game. Giles' hier then does the unthinkable and refuses Giles' promissory note (the entailed estate). Instead he tells Giles what he requires as the winner.....he wants Giles to court and marry his eldest sister, Katherine, a spinster with 'a past'.

There is instant attraction between Giles and Katherine, but also many misunderstandings and quarrels too - this is a fast paced story which develops nicely with several 'twists and turns'to the tale.

Wendy LaCapra has a lovely writing style which is witty and humorous. She has developed well drawn characters that are totally believable with both their redeeming features and their flaws.
The subsidiary characters are also well drawn and help to make a most wonderful tale. I can't wait for book 2 in the series.
This book is highly recommended.
