This is a difficult book to rate. In some parts the story was great with good writing and tight plot. However, in general, I didn't like the character Will Trent at all. He was a very strange man and his strange quirks didn't make his unique or remarkable to me...they just plain bothered me. I kept thinking to myself "Why doesn't he just act like a regular guy?" I was disappointed also with the other main character Michael because he also wasn't likable in any way, shape, or form.

I recently read "Pretty Girls" by Slaughter and loved it so I decided to go back to the beginning of her Trent series and give it a go. Slaughter, like in "Pretty Girls" definitely isn't shy when it come with writing a gruesome story, but this book didn't hold up at all when compared to "Pretty Girls". Maybe if I hadn't had such high expectations for her other works after reading her most recent I wouldn't have been so dissatisfied. I didn't like "Triptych" and found myself rushing through at the end just to be done. I won't be continuing with the series and I wouldn't personally recommend it. 2 stars.
