I, like Sophie Blackall, have oft been fascinated by Missed Connections on Craigslist- they are a reminder of humanity, of strangeness and hope, fear and regret. People on the street seem a little more interesting- it gives me (and my 'runaway imagination') an opportunity to weave fictional threads of strangers and their stories as I see them in town, at work, in the supermarket (What peaches and what penumbras!).
From her eloquent preface to her beautiful painted renditions, Sophie Blackall spoke to the romantic in me- this lady can certainly illustrate more than just unlikely 7 year old bff's!

Raina Have you read I Saw You: Comics Inspired by Real Life Missed Connections? I'm looking forward to compare/contrasting the two.

Emily Yes, and I greatly enjoyed both. Sophie's perspective was a touch lighter, more playful and spoke a little more to the romantic in me, whereas I Saw You brought the grit, which is such a part of the craigslist/human experience.
