really liked it

I need to reread this book at some point. I read Rasselas as a counterpoint to Voltaire's Candide, and while I liked Candide better, I also feel like I can’t fully judge Rasselas until I reread it at some point in the indeterminate future. There’s a lot packed into the tale of Rasselas, who is the fourth son of the King of Abissinia and unhappy with his luxurious but sheltered life. He decides to go out into the world and determine his own ‘choice of life.’ It’s a mixture of philosophy and fiction, and I’m glad I decided to read both this and Candide to contrast the two. Recommended.
