Frankly, I picked up this book because of the Yuko Shimizu drawings, which are vigorous and intriguing. (Intriguing may be my favorite word, currently.) When i started actually reading the book (after discovering to my disappointment that the drawings are all on the OUTSIDE of the book) I wasn't sure I would get into it. It is a fairy tale, of sorts. about--well, the blurb tells what it is about. I don't generally stick with such tales, my genre of choice being mysteries. But I got drawn in and found myself, at the point where I am now, where the Hunters are searching for Balsa, catching my breath with something like real fear. (Even though I know the book can't go on without her!)
