it was amazing
bookshelves: 2019

Opening line:
One year after the fire, my doctor removes my mask and tells me to get a life."

With an opening line like that, you know the character is a little bit sassy and has a story to tell."
Ava Lee is living an unbelievable nightmare. She lost her parents and best-friend cousin in a house fire where Ava is the only survivor. Right there, you know this is going to be a heart-wrenching story that you hope will have a somewhat happy ending.
Then add Piper, another burn survivor who helps Ava find her center and find the strength to not be a 'normal' teen.
Their path, together and separate, groove along for the rest of the story and we learn that we all have scars, some are easier to see.
Ms. Stewart is a prolific writer who pulls emotion and soul into the story where the reader feels they are friends with the characters.
I can't wait for more books by Erin Stewart!
