#readathon18 Ένα βιβλίο που διαδραματίζεται σε χωριό
This extraordinary, beautiful, magical book made my heart want to burst and then grow 3 sizes. An instant favorite and one I know I will be coming back to again and again.
The writing is beautiful, heartfelt and evocative, with the places as much characters in the story as their human counterparts. There's myth and mystery, love and tragedy, a nostalgia and sweetness that feels like a warm hug from someone you love.
I saw this described as "achingly romantic" and it is, but it is also so much more. I don't like to use words like "transcendental" but this is a rare book that fits in so many different categories, while keeping its place strongly and primarily as a romance. But it is so much more than that. There are subplots and secondary characters that are so well-crafted that they are just as important as the two protagonists, even if they appear for just a few pages. So many elements and themes, human, earthly, supernatural, the burdens of society and history but also the freedom of love and finding one's true self. All while being intensely readable, bringing up emotions and leaving the reader in a warm bubble of satisfaction as well as a sweet ache that there's no more of it.
A brilliant, brilliant book, that I'll want to throw at everyone and be envious of them because they'll get to experience it for the first time.
