Richard Hambleton moved to NYC from Canada around 1980 & started to paste up life-size prints of himself lurking in alleys & the like. In my book-form copy of this self-portrait there's a rubber-stamping in the tie area of "I only have eyes for you". Hambleton's wearing a suit & seems to be in his Mr. Reeee persona - an arts detective of sorts, perhaps? To me, his eyes seem a bit deranged & the reaching into the jacket interior cd be a reaching for a gun. At any rate, I reckon the figures pasted up in the streets looked vaguely menacing.
