it was amazing

This was a very interesting story based on the author's father's life. I found it an enjoyable read into a world so far removed from my own, both in time and in place.

My only concern is that the author's own point of view must be somewhat different to her father's in that she grew up in the UK and studied here as an adult. Whatever her father has told her about his life must therefore have been filtered through the eyes of someone who, although she has the heritage, does not have the real experience of her father's country, and so her story of her father is told from a slightly skewed angle.

A great book, though.
