really liked it
bookshelves: romance

This is a very enjoyable book about the ugly duckling daughter in a wealthy Boston family of otherwise beautiful, charming people. It was painful to read about her awkwardness and frustration at the beginning of the book, but once she began to take positive action and found herself being swept along to her eventual transformation it was a joy.

I was very disappointed by the intoxicant chosen in the scene by the spring in Brazil. I think the same thing could have been accomplished with a less "cool" intoxicant. I think there are a lot of people that would not be bothered by it, but it is what kept me from giving this five stars
