If you are a member of the homo sapien gang, you need to read this book. It is a practical application of the theories presented in When Helping Hurts (which I read just before this) in the context of ministering to the gangs of LA. Now, this isn't a how to, but more a memoir of a Jesuit priest serving in the area for more than two decades. But it's more than that too. The book provides Christian living instruction from the gang members. How often would you expect to learn something profound, to see the life of Christ demonstrated so well on the gang infested streets of LA? I sure didn't expect that. I only purchase books that I plan to read again and again. This is a book I will most certainly be purchasing and will hold a special place on my book shelf. I could read it again right now, be inspired anew and learn something new too.
