In this book by Gennifer Choldenko, Matthew (Moose) Flanagan and his sister with mental illness, Natalie, move to Alcatraz Island so that Nat can attend the Esther P. Marinoff school for children with mental illness. Along the way, Moose meets the cute (and annoying) Piper, who wants to start a secret project against the rules, Scout, a baseball fanatic, and many, many more. I like the story and how it has so many elements going at once. It seems like it was the true life story of a kid who lives on Alcatraz. I can't wait to read the next one in the series. I would recommend this book for any fans of fiction books, apart from sci-fi. -Dale, age 12
