Maybe I'm biased, because I'm from Northeast Ohio and this story is set in Cleveland, and for me, that was part of the fun- knowing the streets and venues Daniels mentions in the book. The main character, Pepper Martin, leaves a lot to be desired, but she also acknowledges that she's unprepared for life and never made much of an effort to BE a productive citizen. It makes her sort of an anti-hero (or heroine, as the case may be) - someone who never should have been put in the position to help others, because she'd rather fluff off, except, maybe somewhere, she actually cares. Or it could be that the ghost keeps interrupting her social life.
