A somewhat fluffy space opera with humorous banter between characters that are enjoyable, well drawn, but not profound. Although it has the mechanisms/tropes in place to potentially deliver the real operatic, wonderous vistas that great space opera delivers, the potential is somehow not realized. Another thing that it is missing is a newness to the world. It has all of the old tropes of space opera, but because it has all been done before, you don't really get the sense of 'Woah, that is cool'. Nor do you want to visit the world. Still, I did enjoy the pulp feel, the cliff hanger endings to each chapter, the the sense of humor.
