really liked it

Note: I received an ARC of Threshold from Common Deer Press in exchange of a honest review.
Threshold by Patricia J. Anderson is a wonderful mix of many genres. It is science-fiction, fantasy, satire and much more. The main character Banshooo is a monkey living in Ooolandia who finds himself questioning the Ooolandian society's values, beliefs and practices, which are in fact quite similar to the values, beliefs and practices of today's capitalist world. The satire of our modern society is quite on the nose, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The writing and plot development is simple and without any complicated layering.
The novel comments on many things; the greedy nature of the capitalist system, our ailing environment, the society's obsession with technology and virtual reality in lieu of what we can see and feel.
To be honest it's not the type of novel I would have picked up in a bookstore, but it is one that has expanded my palate as a reader.
All in all, you will not be disappointed with Threshold.
