it was amazing

Review first posted on Nautical Star Books .

If you are looking for a scorching hot MMM romance with fabulous characters, Confessions: Robbie by Ella Frank was incredible. This is book one of the Confessions series and includes several characters from previous books by this author. You can read this as a standalone story but it makes MUCH more sense if you read the Temptation Series first.

The Story:
Basically, Confessions: Robbie by Ella Frank is about Robbie Bianchi, Julien Thornton and Joel Priestley, also known as The Princess, The Prick and The Priest. Julien and Joel are married but have often brought a third into their bed. They have been looking for a permanent third to complete their relationship but hadn’t found just the right person until they meet Robbie. Individually, these guys are beautiful but together, they complete one another perfectly. This is their journey, without much else getting in the way of relationship building. Small struggles in each of their individual lives take place as the story moves along but the relationship building is so perfect that you honestly don’t miss all the drama and mystery some other romance books throw in there.

The Characters:
Julien Thornton and Joel Priestley are married but with an open bed for selectively chosen individuals. Julien is a world renown chef and dubbed ‘the Prick’. A tragic loss in his past leaves him vulnerable (and at times a bit of a prick!) and he needs Joel’s strength and direction when things get a bit overwhelming. He is a tad bit overpowering in his own right when it comes to Robbie but nothing like Priest. Joel (Priest) has a history that you don’t really learn much about. You get tidbits of a bad childhood and he is a very controlling and dominating individual. However, underneath that harsh exterior lies a heart that wants to care for and nurture those he loves. And he loves Julien fiercely (and a love for Robbie follows along soon). Julien and Priest believe that Robbie is their perfect match. Robbie is the perfect balance of fun and feisty with a strength that can stand up to Priest’s dominance when he wants to. But he comes to realize that he LOVES to submit and takes direction beautifully when these three finally hit the sheets.

The Romance:
Normally, most gay romance books I read are around a 3 for heat and that tends to be my happy place. Less and I miss the pull of passion, more and the story gets overwhelmed with sex. I can tell you that this was a total 4 on the heat scale and I did not think the heat detracted from the story AT ALL. These three characters are so incredibly well developed and the story flowed beautifully from beginning to end. The heat was intense but it moved slowly from initial explorations to full acceptance of Robbie as a passionate part of their three way relationship. Ella Frank can write a sex scene that will leave you breathless while still having it flow naturally within the context of the story itself. If you are looking for a scorching hot MMM romance, this is IT!

Confessions: Robbie by Ella Frank is book ONE of Robbie’s story and I am going to be scouring Amazon in the coming months until book two comes out!
