I saw the movie (Anthony Hopkins) first and couldn't believe it was really Shakespeare, so then I read the play. I was shocked. It you have a knowledge of mythology and Rome it is a funny (in a dark, dark way) Shakespeare experience that probably would never be taught in a high school classroom.
