liked it

I won this book through my drug of choice, Goodreads giveways, and was excited to read it. I liked the story and thought it was well structured to carry you through the lives of all these women who were connected to each other. I found the insight into life in the different times they lived in an added bonus to the charcterization.

But there was something a bit flat throughout the whole book, as if I was reading it through a dirty window. I never really connected to any one character throughly. Maybe that was because we jumped around so quickly from one sister story to another.

I think I would have liked to learn more about the sisters that start the story, Mabel and Bertie. However, this was a very realistic telling of life and how it leads us to places we might never expect and how we adapt to what life deals us.

I think that we touched on some issues that were not given enough attention. And the amount of taboo subjects covered in this story was a little too much.
