“Most astrophysicists believe that the force holding stars and galaxies together – the thing that makes our whole universe work – comes from a theoretical substance we can’t measure or observe directly. Something they call Dark Matter.”
Ok, my head hurts. I will admit I wasn't as totally mind-fucked as I’d expected to be. It was definitely weird, and mind bending – but once I’d gotten my head around it there weren’t any other surprises, and I’m not gonna lie. I was kind of hoping there would be more…
Maybe I’ve fallen victim once again to over hype. When you read nothing but 5 star reviews, and everyone raves about how great something is, you just expect pure gold. And unfortunately it wasn’t quite gold for me - maybe I'm being picky, or maybe Sci Fi just isn't for me, but there it is.
Jason Dessen has lived a good life, he married the woman he loved, has a wonderful son and he teaches physics at the local university. Jason is content. Sure there may be a part of him that wonders what might have happened had he continued with his research instead of settling down, but overall he is happy.
Until one night, Jason is kidnapped, drugged and abandoned. When he comes to he awakens to a world he couldn’t have imagined. A world where he didn’t marry Daniella, a world where he did complete his research – and built a box that allows people to explore other realities. Realities where every choice we could have ever made, has been made, and we see what our lives would be.
Is your mind damaged yet? Because mine definitely was. Seriously trippy stuff.
Jason has to do whatever he can to get back to his family, whatever the cost may be.
“I am not allowed to think I’m crazy. I am only allowed to solve the problem.”
A combination of thriller and sci fi. This is certainly a book that makes you think, and you question every choice you’ve made in your life. Filled with action, I enjoyed this one. Just slightly too much for my head to handle though – definitely need something less strenuous next.
“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.”
3.75 stars.

I've read its reviews. It looks too good to be put on hold. Making it next in to-read list.
It made my head hurt too! I loved this book 💜 I lost myself in it. Amazing review! You'll need a cup of tea and a lie down now.

I'm glad you liked it. And your absolutely right when you say it makes you wonder about your own lifes choices. In a bizarre dimension Charlotte I'd have just finished this and YOU would be telling me that it lived up to the hype!!!
