Single mother Laura and her daughter Autumn have just moved to Bristol from London. Autumn almost immediately begins to be bullied at her new school. But when Laura tries to put a stop to it she makes a horrible choice that has far reaching consequences.

Bone by Bone is not fast paced by any means, but it is skillfully written with well-drawn characters and a great sense of 'what would I do in this situation?' that makes it very compelling. Some of the choices the protagonist makes (giving all her computer passwords to a guy she's just met that day? Really?) are just silly, but it is an emotional look at bullying and how difficult it can be to protect your child within the constraints of the law.

An insightful story about the the lengths a mother will go to protect her child.
