bookshelves: travel-writing, to-read

Few books oscillate this wildly from the profound to the profoundly boring. Paul Theroux, I don't care about each and every one of your kayaking misadventures or the toast you made off Nantucket over a camp fire. I do like some of your other essays though.

Ellis Agreed, some of his essays were a struggle to get through. Then some were amazing and felt too short. I warned you that this collection would have its peaks and valleys. His full-length travelogues on the other hand, esp. Dark Star Safari (including the chapters discussing 1970s SE Africa and the rise of Mugabe), are awesome!

Matt Whoa that sounds badass.
