Holy shit. This book is one of those books every author will wish they'd written. I certainly do. I wish I could give it more than five stars, because that just doesn't seem like enough. Just when you think this book can't get any more relevant, any more poignant, any more painful and powerful, somehow Alderman ups the ante again. I listened to the audiobook, but it's so brilliant I'll probably need to get a paper version so I can soak myself in it properly and really pick apart the bones and sinew and muscle to determine how, exactly, she pulled this off. If you like feminist speculative fiction, Margaret Atwood, or just plain good writing, you must read this novel.
