When I picked-up this book from the library, I was very skeptical (odd I know). The cover wasn’t really what I was expecting from a Booker Prize nominee, but as the old saying goes the contents of this book should not be judged by the cover. This is a book about Jinx, whose mother is murdered by her boyfriend. When a family friend Lemon comes to visit, Jinxy has to face her past. This book was depressing, but very well written. I left this book feeling torn. I thought the ending was too cherry coated, but I loved (as much as you can love a book about domestic violence) all of it up to that point. A worthwhile read, although as a disclaimer this book is not for everyone and some may find the content to graphic or disturbing.
