Inexcusable is a fictional young adult book about Keir, a senior in high school, who tries to justify his actions in his mind. I'm still not sure what I think of this novel. I thought the main idea was intriguing: entering the mind of a boy who cannot accept reality. I thought Keir's justifications of his family were particularly interesting in comparison to the reality of his family life. Yet I still feel like there was something missing in the novel. To me it seemed as if Keir should have realized his actions long before he actually does, which makes Keir somewhat unrealistic. Overall, I think the premise of the novel is interesting, but I felt like it could have been portrayed even more successfully. I would be hesitant to recommend this novel to younger readers considering the violent and sexual content.
