really liked it

I had never been interested in reading Jess Walter before, but some rave reviews from colleagues had me intrigued. The Beautiful Ruins has a great mix of literary and commercial themes throughout. I loved the alternating chapters between present day Hollywood, Italy in the 60's, and some sporatic literary-related storylines. There were loads of endearing characters, and a few I could have done without. Overall, a great read, and one I can whole-heartedly recommend.
