This is a book geared toward young adults grades 8 and up. On the surface it's a book about soccer, but it's also much more. The story is about a world cup goal keeper, El Gato, who, as a 13 year old, wanders into the forest near his home in South America only to come upon a ghostly apparition of a goal keeper who teaches El Gato everything he knows. El Gato trains with this ghost in the forest everyday for 2 years until events fall into place for him to be noticed as a bright talent, and he is signed onto a professional soccer team.
This is an enjoyable read. I will definitely be able to recommend it to my kids.
