did not like it
bookshelves: listened-to-audiobook, over-rated

I am torn as to what rating to give this book. It is pretty awful, but it was fun. Ultimately I gave it a two solely because I wanted to see the end, and the end was not a complete waste.

I recommend this book only to people who are such voracious readers that their time spend reading is meaningless.

This book could have been saved by a good editor. I don't even think the world needs to change much. I would have done three things:

1) more absurd - books can work when it is clear they are not realistic on purpose. This book came across as the author thinking he was being realistic.

2) Cut out info dumps - either explain things in world, or don't explain at all.

3) work on dialogue. (also just take out deus ex ogden)

As a side note, it speaks to the "sophistication" of the average science fiction reader that this book has the rating it does.
